“Mamdani believes in a model of universal, cosmopolitan citizenship.” This is the key. While I am sympathetic to aspects of Zionism I will take this any day over a party with any connection to the Tucker Carlsons and JD Vances.

Interesting. I don’t believe in universal cosmopolitan citizenship. Perhaps that’s one reason why Mamdani doesn’t resonate for me. I don’t live or vote in nyc so it doesn’t much matter to me other than to monitor for how the Democratic Party may or may not change in response to Mamdani.

"I haven't touched on Israel and Palestine"

The deeper you go into this wing of American discourse, the less it ever does. Not a criticism of this piece, it's just a fact that *as practiced* this is pure domestic culture war, at most gesturing at the underlying conflict.
